New Volume in the Critical Connections series I run with Ian Buchanan (new proposals for the series always welcome)
The articles by Balibar on Hobbes and Schmitt are quietly devastating for the new right. The essays in the volume point the way to new democracy in a time of growing crisis, but they do so without posturing or forgetting the long past of political theory. Their work taught me a lot for my research on the sublime and egalitarianism – not least on how essential a reading of Balibar was to thinking about equality in a modern setting.
